Welcome to a Fall Workshop in the spectacular Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys of Northern California at its peak of fall color. 

Whoever said California doesn't have a fall season was sadly mistaken!   Imagine rolling hills of vibrant red, russet, amber and gold grape leaves shimmering in the sun.   Liquid Amber trees (our Maple tree equivalent) dot the valleys in all their splendid fall glory.   Days are warm, skies are crystal blue and fallen leaves crunch underfoot.  The light is softer and low in the sky in autumn, providing perfect sidelighting for photography.  

We will sample award winning California wines as we tour and photograph brilliant vines covering the wineries, lovely gardens, architecture, cellars filled with barrels, and graphic shots of wine making equipment.

Hills dotted with rows of colorful vines, clusters of succulent grapes, water towers, and old barns await us. A highlight of the tour will be photographing hot air balloons as they are inflated and back lit against the rising sun, and as they float over the valley. I will be posing behind the balloons to provide some interesting silhouettes.

There will be many macro opportunities with the brilliant back lit grape leaves, grape clusters, and the multi-colored Liquid Amber trees with shades of red, gold, peach and orange.

Learn how to create a "painterly image" and creative zoom techniques.

We will partake of wonderful California cuisine at its finest and have al fresco picnics each day at picturesque wineries.    All this awaits you…. and more.

We will be staying in the charming town of Healdsburg in Sonoma County, known for its world class restaurants and lovely boutiques.
